Detailing your car in a program like a pro in minutes
During the course of our business, we have the opportunity to attend many programs for car demonstrate and market our products. The sample that we can be casual cruise on a local or national meet. Whatever type of program - there is always something highlights - a car so well detailed!
Your trip can be a "driver", a competition quality "trailer-queen" or even a racecar. No matter what you drive, there is no doubt that a detailed car that "Pops" is striking. And who does not like driving a car so well detailed? And if you is an art-head like me, I do have a great job!
Some of these programs are designed to be just "fun", while others are highly competitive. For example, in the Mid America truck show they have a show and shine. All these "Big Rigs" are working trucks. The judges actually use white gloves! These types of wax to the inside of the frame rails - and detail within the tire tread. I could not understand this detail until I attended last year's event with our Canadian distributor Stephane Gauthier who is well known in the Hall of big rig and Shine circuit. They begin to detail their platforms in the week before the show.
Assuming you do not have a week to devote to detail and staging a show car and judges do not use white gloves, try to share with you tips and techniques for preparing your trip to the site at the fair. Now your car can not see the water and be towed to the event in an enclosed trailer, or it could be a cruiser and drives - the process is about the same - and you can see also nice - everything is in the details!
Suppose you are starting with a fairly clean surface - no sense in putting the dirty wax and dressings, soiled or contaminated surfaces.
Start with the outside. Think in detail your car like a painting in the room - always start from the top down. The reason for this is if there is any overspray of the wax or dressings, you can take as you work your way down the vehicle's surface.
If you have a convertible or vinyl roof, it's time to dress! Let's talk about dressings here. For the most part, there are basically two types of dressings for vinyl, rubber and plastic - they are all water based or solvent. You want to use solvent based dressings for the exterior of your trip - solvent based dressings will not wash right and collapse as water-based dressings will, and in my opinion give a richer, more brightness. In addition, a solvent based dressing, like our Super Blue will do a better job in packaging and protection UV.
I always suggest dedicating an applicator with solvent-based dressing. The reason for this is that you want to do this as efficiently as possible and minimize cleaning any overspray. Start with spraying small amount of dressing on the applicator and wipe the entire top from front to back. Now - here is where some people stop and become streaky-looking results. To eliminate this - repeat the process from side to side, front to back. This technique intersect ensures uniform coverage and eliminates any possibility of getting those dreaded streaks when it dries.
If you do not have a convertible or vinyl top, start with a quick Detailer / spray wax and a microfiber cloth to clean the roof surface.
Before we start, let's talk a little about their fast Detailer / wax spray and a microfiber towel. For best results, you'll want to use a fast Detailer / spray wax that will not scratch. Some, because of the humidity and temperature implementation - the bottom line is you want to improve the look of your car - do not add extensions or streaks. Also looking for a quick detail / spray wax that contains a small amount of carnauba - as an added benefit also extends to the protection of any other existing wax you have on your trip. We also recommend using a clean microfiber towel for this particular purpose.
When using your fast Detailer / spray wax - a little goes a long way. Simply spray the product lightly. Other to enhance the protection and "pop" to the surface, but will also serve as a lubricant to help secure the floating dust and dirt. Our natural tendency is that if this amount is good, more is better, right? Like me with detergent - wrong! All you end up doing is wasting product and making a mess.
The reason that we recommend a microfiber is that if used correctly, do not scratch the surface of your trip. Do not treat the microfiber towel like sandpaper - wipe gently turning the towel over frequently - let the towel do the work. No adds a sheen or gloss over my hard rubbing, and even a microfiber can scratch the paint if you rub strongly enough. Simply twist the towel to the frequency and clean easily collect excess dust, dirt road or splatters of errors. Generally concentrate on a concentrate in a 2-foot by 2-foot area at a time - the old cliché applies here - every inch of the easy life! Do your entire surface of the roof.
Then we will move up the glass with your fast Detailer / spray wax. Now some of these do not work well on glass but those of good will, as our body Shine Showroom Spray Wax. Spritz a little on the glass surfaces, then wipe with a microfiber towel. The microfiber will make easy to clean any spills of pollutants as the error if he went to the show, and they are highly absorbent to absorb any excess detail spray. Now is the time to start with the front of your journey. From the bell and follow working downward. After the bell was cleaned, I move to the front of the vehicle. Repeat the same process, paying particular attention to the corners of the grill and seat of the car, including headlights and grille.
Keep the front of his trip, I start on the front fenders. Repeat the same process. No worry about the vinyl, rubber or plastic trim; usually save that for last. Make sure you hit the chrome with your quick detail / wax spray and painted surfaces. At this point - take a step back, Check it out and admire your work - things are starting to join after only minutes!
Then move to the rear of the vehicle. Start on another big surface - the trunk lid. After the trunk is made - Continue the rear of the vehicle, again doing all painted and chrome surfaces. Then move on to the hindquarters. Will usually two doors and surfaces between the front and back past.
Now is the time you want to dress the rubber, plastic and vinyl trim on your ride. Again, applying the product with an applicator instead of spraying on - it saves time on cleaning. Never worry or worry if any of the bandages on the painted surface or adjacent chromium - only wipe with a microfiber towel!
After dressing the seat in the body of your walk, go to the wheel wells. Yes - the wheel wells. Use your dressing to spray under the wheel wells to make it look like new. It is difficult to cover any dust or dirt that has accumulated the exhibition driving or parking at the fair and will look like new! Next great success of their tires. There is nothing better dressed player new tires - remember - it's all about the details!
Once again, I suggest you wear clean the tires with an applicator for two reasons. First, to minimize any cleaning spray painting. Secondly, we all have personal preferences about shine and finish - clean the product will allow you to get the exact finish you desire - the heavier you applied by the most brilliant of the surface.
As a last step, using his quick Detailer / spray wax and microfiber towel on your rims / wheels. This last step lets you clean any excess dressing off your wheels.
Take another break and step back and admire your work. Next - Let's look inside.
Start by cleaning the interior glass. If necessary, use a streak free glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth dedicated to cleaning the glass. Remember to clean any overspray on the dash and door panels. Using a microfiber towel, wipe the dust off the dashboard, trunk lid and the rest of the finishes interiors.
After cleaning the interior down, open the door and pay attention to the jambs. Using a fast Detailer / wax spray, spray surfaces and collect any grime that might be present.
As a final touch, use a spray touch up dressing for hard to reach places, like our Dash Vent Magic to dress the areas of difficult access, as the conduit that carries wiring for power windows and locks. It make them look like new!
Open the bonnet and boot and clean the compartments. Use your spray wax / Detailer quickly if necessary. Pay attention to the seams on the hood and trunk meet the body - On both sides of the panels - remember - it's all in the details!
