Powder Coating Finishes
Powder paint is the youngest of surface finishing techniques still in use today. It was first used in 1967 in Australia by Allan Davies.
Powder coating is the simple technique of applying dry paint in one hand as metal or plastic, and after the final layer is the who ended a 2-layer wet paint job. Powder coating can be applied in two ways: either by reducing one element in a layer of dust that may or may not be electrically charged or powder coating is electrically charged and sprayed on the side. After being with dry paint coating, the part is placed in an oven and the powder particles melt and combine to form a permanent layer of paint.
There are two main types of powder available for use, either the thermoplastic powder being melted down when heated, and thermosetting powders will not melt when heated. This is because during the initial heating process of a cross linking chemical reaction is activated so that bonds can not be broken.
The foundation of any high quality work is the preparation of the coating. The Most powder coating failures are linked to a process of preparation of the poor. It is important to know that treatment of the preparation is different for different materials.
For all applications the preparation treatment for aluminum is clean, rinse, etch, chromate, rinse and rinse denim. The oils and fats can be eliminated by weak alkaline solutions or neutral detergent and the surface is etched to remove heavy oxides. After rinsing, aluminum is dipped into a chromate or phosphate solution to form a layer of adaptation. After rinsing the aluminum is rinsed in demineralized water, which melts chemical salts on the surface of aluminum. This process has two functions which include giving the aluminum surface is best for grip and protects the aluminum underneath corrosion of the paint.
If you are preparing a steel part, the steps we take to prepare your party are: cleaning, rinsing, etching, rinsing, refine the grain, zinc phosphate, rinse and acidulated rinse. The grain refiner is used after acid cleaning of steel surfaces and before zinc phosphate because otherwise the zinc phosphate coatings produced will be very thick and has a capacity of low adherence. The engraving is necessary to remove zinc corrosion products that begin to form almost immediately removes zinc from the galvanizing kettle. The fine grain refiner ensures phosphate is produced.
