At the bottom of my water bottle there is a number inside a triangle, what does?
The number inside the triangle is an identification number plastic representing what chemical was used to make plastic. For example, if you see a 1, representing PETE (polyethylene terephthalate) or a 7 is polycarbonate (which contains bisphenol A), which are the two most commonly used chemicals in water bottles. This attempt of the articles is to give a basic overview of # 1 and # 7 chemicals and is not included in any media. I urge the reader to research each of these new chemicals.
Can I reuse my plastic water bottle?
Water bottles with the # 1 (PETE) are for single use! PETE has leaked into the solution the second use. The more the reusing bottles made from PETE most of the chemical they are ingesting (Aquafina and Dasani are made out of Pete). Number 7 is quite stable in the beginning, but with washing and continued use of the pores of polycarbonate plastic leaching start and the more you wash and fill more you are taking. I recommend not to use bottles made with # 7 (Nalgene is made from polycarbonate).
What is the health problem associated with the Chronic exposure to these chemicals?
Pete is thinking of the possibility of a carcinogen, studies have been reported to support this claim. I'm still not sold on the exact condition it causes, but drinking small amounts of chemicals can not be good for anyone. Polycarbonate on the other side is showing health problems in a variety of ways. Bisphenol A (contained in polycarbonate) was 1st introduced to the market in the 1930s as an estrogen for medicinal use. It is now used in our plastic and has been shown to disrupt the endocrine system, fetal development, cause reproductive abnormalities and has been shown to enhance growth of human cells of breast cancer. This is sickness states that every person should try to avoid their occurrence.
Are there any bottles that are safe?
