Component Polyurethane Coatings
GRP (glass reinforced plastic) molding is a process that allows the manufacture of plastic products designed specifically glass-reinforced, better known as fiberglass, these molded products can be manufactured for a wide range of industrial applications, such as Construction, Leisure, marine, aerospace, automotive, and more.
Molded Fiberglass products can be manufactured to meet most requirements and specifications, in addition, most of these molds can be manufactured in any size, shape and color can match any RAL or BS required with either a gloss, matte, smooth or textured finish, in some cases, the peripheral components can be incorporated into this process, as the threaded inserts that can be bonded in the product to provide a fixed solution or metal work that can be incorporated in the profile to provide a mounting of internal components such as electronics etc. During This innovative process, additional reinforcements can be incorporated into specific areas that are under the charge or additional charge, this is done during the process of laminate, where additional reinforcement layers can be applied in the required areas, or sub trim can be bonded, in short, the fiber components molded glass can be tailored to meet any requirement, but talk about the process that makes it possible fiber molding.
Fiberglass molding is a process that begins with making a pattern known as a plug or a ball, this is a model from polyurethane foam or MDF (Fibreboard Medium Density) or other material, this model will replicate the exact product required, in relation to the dimensions and surface finish, once the model has been manufactured and prepared the mold can be manufactured from it, the mold can be male or female depending on product design.
The manufacturing Mold requires a certain amount of skill and understanding, their experience in the materials that enable the right tools to be chosen and used during construction mold, the mold may be necessary depending on more than one piece of product design (flash lines, deductions, etc. are complex thing to think about) if the mold must be more than one piece, then the locators are required in the flanges to ensure the mold section to align.
Now, the mold has been made and allowed to cure, the boss may be removed from the mold, use compressed air or wedges may be needed to break the seal between these parts, once the pattern has been released, the mold can be prepared with several coats of mold release wax, remember before running the mold a layer of PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol) as releasing agent practice is also good and will help the first product to come out of the mold with the risk of sticking.
Now the mold is prepared and ready to go work, its time to go fiber molding
1. This begins with the mold that is painted or sprayed with gel-coat of the desired color, polyester gel-coat is the layer that serve as pre-colored finish with the path component.
2. Once the gel-coat has cured, a layer of fiberglass can be applied to that part subsequent gel-coat, the layers of fiberglass is then saturated with resin saturated fiberglass is rolled with a special roller, this is to remove trapped air, and consolidate glass, fiber, more layers of fiberglass can be applied to required thickness is achieved, the laminate is allowed to harden and cure.
3. Once the laminate has cured, the product can be released from the mold, the product usually stay in the mold of twenty-four hours, this ensures that the product has no imperfections, such as, printing through glass fiber, the contraction in the layer of gel-TEC, but remember, if there are any defects like the one just mentioned, this can be rectified by a qualified agency.
Congratulations, you now have an understanding of fiber molding, a truly innovative process for the manufacture of fiberglass components, and remember that you probably see every day products from GRP, but did not realize it, that was until now!
