Each commercial manufacturer of water heaters put in your own amount of anodes in a water heater. The amount is usually based on the duration of the warranty, therefore the more anodes in a water heater, the longer the warranty the manufacturer provided. Most manufacturers intentionally provide periods shorter guarantees unless asked for longer. In addition, most consumers do not know enough about water heaters (which are passed long time to learn about them unless you're in the business) to ask about warranties and anodes that do not ask first.
